Kirtipur is an ancient city of Nepal, located in the Kathmandu District, Bagmati Province, Nepal and is located 5 km south-west of Kathmandu City. Kirtipur Municipality was established in 1997 AD (2053 B.S in the Nepali calendar) by merging the 8 former Village Development Committees (VDCs). The municipality is sub-divided into 10 administrative wards covering an area of 14.76 sq. km and encompasses a total population of 65602 residing in 19441 households.
